Jedward backing singer Shane Creevy from Newbridge has slated Eurovision ‘block voting’, writes Lisa Deeney

Shane, who teaches with the Leah Moran Stage School, said the twins deserved more votes. Speaking to the Leader, the backing singer said the block voting was “crazy”.

“Everyone just voted for each other. Jedward really did deserve more votes. The performance itself was unreal. It was really good on the night and coming off the stage it felt really good too. I think they deserved a lot more votes. But we had great craic, laughed it off and we really enjoyed it. It was incredible.”

Shane said the trip to Azerbaijan had been an “amazing experience”.

“There were more than 20,000 people in the arena and 150 million people watched it worldwide. I’ve never preformed to an audience that big before. It was incredible.”

Jedward and their crew, including Shane, landed back in Dublin Airport on Sunday morning. The twins, originally from Rathangan, came 19th in the competition.

“The twins took it really well. So well they were cheering and having a great laugh during the voting call. Sweden just nailed it. Jedward took it really well, great credit to them. They were bright and alert at the 7am press conference in Dublin Airport meeting fans while we couldn’t barely keep our eyes open. They have energy to burn,” Shane added.

Next for the Newbridge man is the Leah Moran Stage School concert in the Moat Theatre this weekend with its ‘Dare to Dream’ CD launch, Strictly Come Dancing with Naas Rugby Club the following day and then a well-deserved two week break enjoying the football.

“It was an unbelievable experience. Who knows I may write or perform a Eurovision winning song yet.”
