Investigation continuing into Suncroft shooting

A garda investigation is continuing into a shooting incident in a housing estate in Suncroft.

Residents of Church View housing estate in Suncroft, Co Kildare, were left terrorised after a man approached a house in the estate carrying a shotgun and proceeded to fire a random shot at the front door.

The incident happened last Tuesday, May 8 at 9.35pm writes Paula Campbell .

Kildare gardai, who are investigating the incident, are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. The man was described as wearing a grey hoody and tracksuit bottoms. A father and son were in the house at the time of the shooting and gardai have since carried out door-to-door enquiries and CCTV footage is being viewed.

“We haven’t identified this man yet,” said Sgt Seamus Rothwell of Newbridge Garda Station.

“Suncroft is a country area so he probably got away in a car. He aimed the gun at the front door and fired.”

Gardai have yet to discover the motive behind the random attack but say that they are ‘keeping an open mind’. You can contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 521222 if you have any information on the incident.
