there was a great turn out for the Newbridge 200 Nua-Feile on the River which took place on Saturday as part of the Newbridge 200 celebrations.
After last week’s fantastic start, Newbridge residents and visitors alike came out in force to celebrate the town’s bicentenary at the weekend which cumilated in a free concert headlined by Kildare crooner ‘Jack L’ followed by a grand fireworks display.
“The concert was magic,” said Breda McHale of Newbridge 200 committee. “It was magic to be there last night (Sunday) with the fireworks display after Jack L. There was a real community spirit to the festival which was what it was all about.” After ten days of festivites, which included free open air concerts, craft and food stalls, historical walking tours, a historical photo exhibition and a GAA Exhibtion match, the celebrations came to a fabulous end with a fantastic family concert on Sunday night.
Even the rain stayed away rounding off what has been described as ‘a great historic event’ for Newbridge.
