Athy man arrested as part of investigation into dissident republican activity.

Carbury Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occured on the M4 westbound at Kilmore at approximately 1.25 am this morning Friday, May 25.

A two car collision occurred and one male driver aged 31 years was pronounced dead at scene.

He has been removed to Naas General Hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle in the second car received minor injuries. There were no other people in the vehicles.

Forensic investigators are at scene and the road is closed with diversions in place.

This is the first car crash in Kildare this year that lead to a fatality.
