Elderly Carbury man’s arm broken in attack
Edenderry gardai are seeking assistance in relation to the attacks.
GARDAÍ are searching for two men suspected of breaking an elderly Carbury man’s arm before attacking another three elderly men at a house in Co Offaly.
Gardai at Edenderry Garda station in Co Offaly said a man in his late 60s heard a noise outside a mobile home and was confronted by two men at Carbury, Co Kildare, at 8.45pm on Monday. Both attackers were wearing dark clothes, caps, had scarves around their faces and were brandishing hurleys.
The men are understood to have demanded money and a struggle ensued. The elderly man was later taken to Naas hospital with a suspected broken arm.
Nearby at The Derries in Edenderry, two brothers in their 50s and 60s were at home with a neighbour, also in his 60s, when two men entered the house at about 9pm. The men, who were about 175cm (5’9”-5’10”) in height, were dressed in dark clothes, armed with hurleys and wearing scarves. Both had scars on the lower part of their faces. They threatened the homeowners, demanded cash and threw turf and timber at the men, striking one in the face. The men threw a kettle of scalding water at their attackers.
After stealing a wallet containing some cash, the raiders fled. Gardaí say the men were covered up and could be aged from their late teens to their 30s.
