Council’s plans for Newbridge’s Dara Park

Kildare County Council’s solution to the ongoing foul smell and sewer issues in Dara Park may include rediverting a sewer line in a section of the estate most affected by sewer blockages, the Leinster Leader can reveal.
The council is also currently examining the feasibility of cleaning out the main surface water outfal in the estate and discussions are soon to take place with Iarnrod Eireann regarding the necessity, or otherwise, of cleaning the culvert or drain underneath the railway line.
“In addition, the council’s environmental overseer has met with the residents group to deal with a range of issues relating to illegal dumping etc within the estate,” said Annette Aspell spokesperson for Kildare County Council who rejected claims that the council had not met with residents since the co-ordinating group met on November 7 last. According to the council, the Water Services and Environment Departments have held meetings with the residents.
“The Roads and Transport Dept has a meeting scheduled for next Wednesday,” she said.
“The council is due to meet with the residents group again on Wednesday, 13 February 2013 at 11am.”
