A Community Alert scheme is to be launched in Kill in the wake of criticism of the decision to close the garda station there, writes Paul O’Meara.

A meeting to discuss the plan takes place in the Dew Drop Inn on Thursday February 7 at 8.30pm.

Fianna Fail area representative James Lawless who organised the protest meeting has also been in contact with talks with the Garda Superintendent about setting up a local “garda clinic” in the village.

A senior garda representative is also expected to attend the meeting and will advise on policing arrangements following after the station closure.

“There is disappointment that these station closures have gone ahead,”added Mr. Lawless.
