Caused €4,000 damage at Minch Norton site

I want the Probation Service to come with a proposal, something, not cash but blood, sweat and tears, Judge Patrick Clyne, said after he sought a report from it on a man who caused damage at the Minch Norton site.
Thomas Broughall, Apartment 3, Stanhope Street, Athy, one one of two males caught by Gardai at the site after security there called for help.
Mr Broughall was arrested and was charged with around €4,000 damage to vehicles and equipment on the site.
After his arrest, the defendant was said to be “at all times very helpful” but was described as being “heavily intoxicated” on the night.
Mr Broughall has thirteen previous convictions, including for public order, intoxication and criminal damage (two).
Judge Clyne was told by Paul Cunningham, solicitor, representing the defendant, that Mr Broughall had a “difficult life” including “addiction to various substances.”
Mr Broughall, who is engaged to be married and is a waiting list for treatment at Newbridge centre was “out of his head on the night.”
Mr Broughal told Judge Clyne that he was now “really clean.”
The Judge adjourned his case until 27 November to get a report from the Probation and Welfare Services. He asked that they come up with something, not a cash penalty, but “blood, sweat and tears.” Judge Clyne said if the report was negative, “he’s had it.”
