Naas man had to be carried from his car.

A young woman was convicted of speeding at Naas District Court last Wednesday, September 12, after she pleaded guilty to driving at 152 kmh in a 120 kmh zone.

Hearing the case of Cathleen O’Doherty whose address is listed as 2 Oldcastle Park Grove, Clondalkin, Judge Desmond Zaidan said he “just don’t understand how stupid the State can be and how stupid they are”.

Ms. O’Doherty was caught speeding on February 6, last at Osberstown, Naas. The judge felt that at that speed, she should have faced a more serious charge of dangerous driving.

“This redefines stupidity on behalf of the State. You should be losing your licence,” he told the young woman. “It’s embarrassing. It appears there’s no distinction between someone who’s doing 61 kmh in a 50 kmh zone and this lady.”

He fined her n500.
