Body of missing Cormac found
Cormac Clare
The body of missing Naas CBS student Cormac Clare was found yesterday in a wooded area near Rathcoole, bringing a nine day search for him to an end.
The Kilteel native was last seen in his home at 2am on October 22 and a large scale search for him was launched some 12 hours later.
Gardai as well as Civil Defence personnel and members of the Glen of Imaal and Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue teams led the intensive search search along with neighbours and friends of the Clare family.
A Garda spokesman told the Leinster Leader this morning (October 31): “There is nothing suspicious; it was a tragic incident.”
Earlier this week Seamus Clare, Cormac’s dad, said that the family had no idea why he went missing. He added that they were overwhelmed by the support of many people who participated in the search for the Leaving Certificate student.
Naas CBS Principal and Vice Principal Noel Merrick and Ben Travers informed students and parents of Cormac’s death yesterday evening.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Cormac’s family at this very difficult time. May he rest in peace,” they said.
Cormac is also survived by his mother Lorraine and brothers Donal (20) and Eoin (11).
