Body of man found in Kildare town after house blaze
A post mortem was Friday afternoon being conducted on the body of a man found in a house in Kildare town.
Gardai were called to a house at Leinster Walk in the town at 5am on Friday morning, November 30. A passer-by raised the alarm after smoke was spotted rising from the property, which had been unoccupied for a number of years.
The fire brigade also attended the scene, and the body of the middle-aged man was located in the house shortly afterwards.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains were due to be formally identified by his family on Friday afternoon at Naas General Hospital.
An investigation is currently underway into the cause of the fire, and forensic garda units from Naas and Dublin were present at the scene in Kildare town on Friday.
