GARDAI in Newbridge are appealing to any witnesses to an attempted robbery of the Topaz petrol station on Moorefield Road on Monday, February 25, by a young man who produced a knuckleduster.

The young man entered the shop at 9.20pm wearing a hoodie to cover his face and demanded the contents of the till.

He then produced the knuckle duster, which is used in street fights, in a threatening manner. Staff who claimed the young man appeared drunk refused to hand over the cash and the intruder fled the shop to jump the wall at Dunnes Stores.

If you have any information on the above incident please ring Newbridge gardai on 045 431212.
