Athy GFC celebrates 125 years

Athy GAA Celebrated its 125 th Year at the Clubhouse in Athy recently L to R David Murphy, Conor Doyle, Niall McEvoy, Cillian Horan, Luke Bracken, Dermot healy, Alex gibbons kelly.

Athy GFC celebrated its 125 year anniversary with a mass and reception last week. The local community turned out in force to celebrate the club’s history and to honour its 1987 Silver Jubliee senior team.

Athy GFC is one of the oldest clubs in Kildare, founded in 1887. Athy GFC has provided many outstanding footballers, since it’s foundation, up to the present day who have represented Kildare at all grades and indeed several county board chairmen and Leinster council delegates.

It won the Senior County Champions 2011 and the 2011 All Star award went to Michael Foley.
