Kildare Town has struck lucky again with the latest win in the National Lottery from a ticket bought there.

A local lady won €250,000 on the Lotto Plus 2 on May 30 after buying a €16 ticket in Brett’s Centra, Melitta Road, Kildare town. The woman, who wishes her win to remain private, is a regular Lotto player and says she currently has no plans for her winnings.

The owner of the Centra, John Brett said he was delighted with the win.

“We’ve sold a few down through the years, and it’s always great when it happens. We’ve no idea who it is. We only heard that it was a woman and that she had won. It’s always great to get the call from the Lotto people,” John said.

“It creates a bit of a buzz about the place when somebody wins.”

Kildare Lotto sellers have been on a spectacular winning streak over the past few months.

Last April Giustina Macari, scooped €5.7 million after buying a ticket in Malone’s on Claregate Street.

Meanwhile Terry Hennessey of Malones has confirmed that the winner of a recent €250,000 ticket from the Lotto Plus 2, also bought in the shop, has yet to come forward.

“The ticket was bought during Derby week, so the person could be from out of town,” she explained.

“Because it was the Lotto Plus 2, maybe they just checked their numbers against the main lotto and then discared it when they hadn’t won.”
