Defendant admitted that the thought of giving up cannabis scaried the living daylights out of him.

Gardai discovered an estimated €600,000 worth of cannabis herb when they stopped a car and a van in Castlewarden last Thursday afternoon, February 28.

And three men, aged 31, 40 and 50 were arrested at the scene, which was on a near a slip road on the N7.

The search and arrests were part of a planned operation by the Garda National Drugs Unit and the Organised Crime Unit.

A later search of a business premises in Tallaght yielded more cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €1.2 million.

The three were detained at Clondalkin Garda Station for questioning.

A Garda spokesman said that two of the men appeared before a court Friday charged with possession of the drugs.

They were released on bail to appear before Blancharstown District Court on Friday.
