Newlands Cross, the biggest junction on the main artery for Kildare people to get into Dublin has reopened, but only to those leaving the city.
Inbound traffic remains blocked after a water main burst at lunchtime.
Outgoing traffic can get out, but Kildare travellers will be diverted at Kingswood. It is expected that this diversion will remain i place until at least tomorrow, Saturday, May 3.
Gardai say that delays are still “being experienced inbound from Rathcoole to Kingswood and if road used can avoid N7 inbound they should do so”.
Newlands Cross is currently ungoing a €200 million reconfiguration to remove the traffic lights from it.
When this is completed it will make it possible to drive from Cork to Belfast without encountering any traffic lights.
