Two questioned over armed robbery in Rathangan

Gardai in Kildare town are continuing to question two people in connection with an armed robbery at the filling Station in Rathangan last night.

It is reported that two masked men, one armed with what appeared to be a shotgun, entered the garage shop at approximately 8.45pm. They made off with a quantity of cigarettes and some cash. They jumped into a waiting car, which then travelled over the bridge and down into the town.

It’s understood two people were arrested a short time later in Portarlington. The man and woman, are still being questioned in connection with the raid.

The petrol station and store was quite busy at the time and the gardai were on the scene very quickly. Anyone with any information in relation to the robbery is asked to contact gardai in Kildare Town.
