Postcards of Athy's Gathering events will soon be travelling around the world.

Greetings from Athy. Postcards on all of Athy’s and south Kildare’s Gathering 2013 events will soon be travelling around the world inviting people home to take part.

On Thursday 28 February, the Athy Town Promoters Group will launch a series of events to coincide with the Gathering.

Among the events planned are TriAthy, TradAthy, the Bluegrass Festival among many others. The postcard will also be launched on the night.

“The postcard will be made available to the general public and will have a list of the various events taking place in the town over the year,” explained Cllr Mark Wall.

“The idea is that members of the general public will get the postcard and send it to members of the general public will get the postcard and send it to members of their family and friends who are around the world, inviting them to Athy for the various events and festivals.

“The recipient of the card will then pick an event that they want to come to Athy for and be in Athy when it happens.”

The list of events is currently being finalised. The launch night is taking place at 7.30pm in the Athy Heritage Centre-Museum.

Meanwhile the Athy Town Promoters Group have promised that the 2013 St Patrick’s Day Parade will be bigger and brighter than ever.
