Power outages in aftermath of storm

Power is out in Monasterevin and several other parts of Kildare this morning, Friday, in the aftermath of the St Stephen’s night storm.

Most of Monasterevin has been without electricity since the early hours of this morning. ESB Networks say they are working to restore power, but have estimated that the fault will not be fixed until 6pm this evening.

Power outages have also been reported around Kildare, Kilcullen, Edenderry and Carbury.

Meanwhile, there are reports of trees down in several parts of Kildare due to the storm.

Met Eireann says that winds will start to ease early this afternoon. There will be heavy showers with a risk of thunder later.

Winds are predicted to become light to moderate overnight.
