The Newbridge St Patrick’s Day Festival committee are planning a bigger and better parade this year with their budget from the Town Council of €8,000.
“St Patrick’s Day Parade will be the biggest in this our tenth year of organising it,” said Chairman Cllr Paddy Kennedy.
The other committee members are Theresa Harrison, Mick Donohue, Mick Deely and Anne Greene.
The parade will start at 12 sharp on Monday.
Due to the demise of Newbridge Town Council in May this year this will be the last year of this committee organising the parade, which is funded by the Town Council.
“The committee are not letting that stop us from making this years Parade the best ever. We are hoping to have our business community get more involved and enter floats this year,” he added.
“This year we will have 22 people travelling over from Ocala mostly Police and Fire service some who have been here before others who were never in Ireland before.
“We have the Mayor of Bad Lippispringe Andreas Bee his Deputy Mayor Fritz and one other Councillor. We will also have visitors from Argentre Du Plessis in France who have a very strong friendship with Newbridge Rugby Club. They visit here a few of times a year and people from Newbridge travel over there to visit also.
“We will have all our usual community groups some businesses this year. We will have the American Muscle Cars rejoining us.
“We will have our own Military Band Town Band, the Patrician Band and a lot of students from the Patrician Primary who will be celebrating 100 years this year. We will also have a lot of surprises again.
“The first new entrant is TRI Newbridge and the Curragh we welcome them and look forward to more businesses joining them.”
