Nine cars burnt out and raided in Newbridge

Gardai in Newbridge are investigating a spate of arson and vandalism on nine cars in the course of one night on Friday, December 14 last.

Three cars, all Honda Civics were burned out in the early hours, one in Dara Park, one in Moorefield and one in Lakeside while a fourth in Lakeside sustained damage from a nearby arson attack.

Gardai are looking for any witnesses to the incidents to come forward.

“While the gardai and the fire services were attending in Lakeside another car was burned out in Moorefield Drive,” said Sgt Bernard Clinch of Newbridge Garda Station.

“Gardai are investigating.”

Meanwhile earlier that night, in an incident that gardai believed is linked, five cars were broken into while parked at Newbrige Train Station .

All the windows were smashed and the glove compartments were rifled through between 1am and 5am.

“The incidents are more than likely linked,” he added.

“But we can’t confirm yet. If anyone has any information about these crimes please contact Newbridge Garda Station.”
