Newbridge Town Council awards night

The annual Newbridge Town Council awards were held on Sunday evening at Riverbank Arts Centre to celebrate local people in the community.

There were eleven worthy recipents for this years awards. The Hall of Fame award went to local GAA legend Dermot Earley, which was accepted by his mum Mary Earley.

Other awards given on the night included a culture award for St Conleth’s Community Games Variety Group, while the sporting award went to St Conleth’s U15 Relay Team.

The award for best sports club went to Moorefield GAA and Martin Murray, Chairman accepted it on behalf of the club.

The Voluntary Group award went to Kildare-West Community Addiction Services. Paddy Maher, Niamh Tormey and Tommy Gilson all accepted the award on the night.

Best volunteer went to the well deserved Noel Brett while local student Liam Bulter received the academic award for his work at the Gael Scoil Chill Dara.

Local singer Tammy Browne received an award for the most talented performer and the individual community award went to Kathleen Nevin.
