Newbridge Chamber’s Chosen Charity of the Year for 2013 was the Kildare Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
President David O’Reilly recently met up with Angela Lane, who works for the organisation, to present the branch with €675 raised by Chamber members at various events last year.
In accepting the donation, Angela thanked the members and they are looking for volunteers to help out in 2014
“It will be put to good use as it is a constant worry for us raising funds to support our clients in the locality affected by this form of dementia,” she said.
“We are also looking for the public to come and volunteer to help us carry out our plans for 2014.”
The society hopes to ensure that people with dementia and their carers are respected, understood and facilitated to lead fulfilling lives. They are reliant on the input of volunteers in order to facilitate the enhancement of numerous aspects of their service. Volunteers help to deliver on their mission to advocate the rights and meet the needs of people with dementia and those who care for them.
David, who said it was a cause close to his own heart, invited interested parties to contact the Chamber office to hear how they can help the branch in Newbridge.
