Gardai in Newbridge are appealing for information after a local man was followed home from the bank and robbed.

The man withdrew a substantial amount of money from the Ulster Bank on Thursday, May 22 at 12.30pm.

The man was approached when he pulled up outside his house in Beechwood Ave by a man who demanded the money. He was described as being 6ft tall wearing a beige base ball cap and dark glasses. Gardai believe he was travelling in blue Volvo car with a group of men.

“We would appeal to witnesses around Beechwood Avenue and the Ulster bank area between 12.30pm and 1.30pm,” said Sgt Seamus Rothwell. “We believe that they were targeting customers of the bank who had taken out money that day rather than individuals.”
