Man (23) charged over Rathcoffey stabbing

A man has appeared in court in relation to an incident where it’s alleged that three people were stabbed in Rathcoffey.

Edward Buckley, whose address is listed as Mooretown Drive, Rathcoffey, has been charged with three counts of assault causing harm.

Having been charged at 9.25pm on Sunday evening, he appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court yesterday afternoon, Monday, July 7.

The Judge heard that Mr. Buckley, 23, made no reply after he was charged with the alleged offences. He is unemployed and the Judge approved an application for legal aid.

Mr. Buckley’s barrister did not apply for bail.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Naas District Court this Thursday, July 10.

Three people, two men and a woman, all in their 20s, received injuries in the incident which, it’s alleged, occurred at Rathcoffey GAA club in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Their injuries were described as not life-threatening, and two were discharged shortly after although, it’s believed that one man required surgery.
