A bunch of Kildare Roses will sell chocolate hearts at Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge this Valentine’s Day in aid of the Jack and Jill Foundation.

The girls, who are taking part in this year’s Kildare Rose contest on April 5, are volunteering their time to help the Kildare-based charity, which provides support to families of seriously ill children.

The Roses are taking part in the national Valentine’s Chocolate Heart campaign for Jack and Jill. They will be in the centre today between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Each chocolate costs €1 with every €16 raised supporting one hour of home nursing care to the eight families supported today by Jack & Jill in Co. Kildare. The Rose volunteers will have their makeup done by Debenhams in the Whitewater prior to volunteering.

The Roses taking part are: Tara Higgins of Two Mile House, Emily Aspell from Newbridge, Orna Whyte from Kilcullen, Niamh Fitzpatrick from Rathangan, Danielle Smullen from Donadea and Sarah McDermott from Newbridge.

The closing date for applications for this year’s Kildare Rose is March 7. If you are interested in taking part, you can contact organiser Elena Gibson on kildare.roseoftralee@gmail.com or via Facebook at ‘Kildare Rose Centre’.
