Kildare County Council crews were out in force to deal with issues arising from Wednesday’s storm, February 12 last.

Particular emphasis was given to removing fallen trees and debris in around Kildare town and Monasterevin.

Slates were reported to have been blown off the roof of the old mill in Monastervin during the high winds on Wednesday and the area was cordoned off by the council for repair works the following day.

Members of the public, particularly motorists and pedestrians, were advised to continue to take care and remain cautious particularly when travelling on minor roads where fallen trees and debris may remain.

In some rural areas electricity cables had fallen, together with trees, and the assistance of the ESB was required in order to deal with those issues.

Extreme caution was advised in the vicinity of fallen cables and members of the public were warned ‘not approach under any circumstances’.

People were asked to check on elderly and vulnerable neighbours who may need assistance in the wake of the storm damage.

The public were advised to avoid flooded areas and walkways in high winds.
