Help is continuing to flood in to the Kildare Animal Foundation after it issued an urgent appeal for funding yesterday.
The Foundation, at South Green Road, Kildare is €8,000 in debt and needs to clear it’s bills in order to survive.
“We are in a desperate situation,” explained the founder, Geraldine O’Hanlon. “The shelter is heaving with animals. October ran into Halloween, and then we had a really bad winter with a huge number of animals coming in. Our winter raffle didn’t do as well as normal because people just didn’t have the money to support it, and we have a large number of animals to look after.”
After the facebook appeal, locals arrived at the Foundation with animal food, and donations have been coming in.
“We need help. Those who supply us with food and provide veterinary care have been more than patient. It is now almost seven weeks since we have been able to make any payments. Our electricity supply is tenuous on a very severe and unsustainable payment demand,” she added.
Anyone who would like to make a donation can do so by making a donation online via it’s PayPal account at www.animalfoundation.ie or you can send a donation by post to the Kildare Animal Foundation, South Green Road, Kildare Town. For those who may not be in a position to donate money, dry dog food and tins of cat food would also be much appreciated.
