Kildare town based club, Headstrong, has launched its first cycling Sportive on Sunday April 6 to promote mental health issues and encourage people to get active.
“It’s a club that is a couple of years old now and we are associated with the Headstrong organisation. One of our goals is to promote awareness of mental health issues and its also about getting people out, having fun and getting them exercising,” explained club member, Declan Ennis.
The Sportive will be held in aid of the Kildare Animal Foundation.
“We are calling on cyclists to register on our website before April 2 on www.headstrongcyclingclub.com. It costs €20 and they can also register on the day from 8.30am,” he added.
There are two routes - 60Kms and 110Kms. The start (10am sharp) and finish will be at the Silken Thomas Pub.
“We cater for beginners, teenagers and all levels of fitness. We are based in Kildare Town and encourage anyone interested to come along for an enjoyable and social cycle,” concluded Declan. Further information can be obtained by logging on to the club website.
