Teresa Murray, a key member of the Maynooth Parents Group, is to stand as an independent in the local election in the Maynooth Municipal District, writes Henry Bauress.
Ms. Murray, who has lived in Maynooth for the past 25 years, is originally from Tibohine in Roscommon and has been involved in a wide range of community based organisations.
These include roles as a board member of NUI Maynooth’s Governing Authority and a parents’ representative on the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board. A former registrar with Maynooth GAA she has played a big role in the Maynooth School group junior/senior campaign.
Ms. Murray believes that Kildare County Council’s Maynooth Area Plans has failed to date to deliver the necessary infrastructure to the area.
That deficit, the ongoing schools campaign, a community network for Maynooth and the reappointment of a Community Garda are her priorities.
“I am committed to doing my best without making any false election promises,” she said.
