“It was a great experience,” Clondalkin nataive, Edel, told the Leader.
Edel, who has lived in Celbridge for nine years, is not a qualified chef, but she has always loved food. Now working with KC Peaches, she has a background in coffee and retail and was director of Cafe Sol. She lives with her partner, Brian, and chldren, Nessa (4) and Darcey (20 months) and is very busy with family life. Having lived in Italy for two years in her 20s, Italian food is probably her favourite. Despite no formal qualifications, she cooked her way to the final of Masterchef. “If you are not afraid of hard work, you can do it,” she says. Since the final, the phone has not stopped ringing with congratulations.
Edel was one of three amateur chefs in the final who had the chance to impress award winning chef Margot Janse.
It took place in a disused warehouse in Cape Town’s Wookstock district, that has now become a world class culinary experience, The Test Kitchen, which is 61st on the San Pellegrino list of the world’s best restaurants.
