CELBRIDGE man, Michael Beirne, has decided to contest the local election for the Celbridge/Leixlip constituency on a number of issues – both local and National.

Mr. Beirne, who also put his name forward in the 2009 local election said his issues include the unending government-led raids on the security of people who have tried to provide for themselves and their families, including public service charges under the guise of property tax

He said: “I will sign a covenant with my constituents that I will resign my seat if I do not honour my proposals with action.”

Mr. Beirne said there is a need to ensure that local charges will not

increase by stealth, or go to reimburse the banks. He said that all leaks are repaired before water charges commence.

He believes secondary educational system does not serve well those with manual and vocational skills.

Mr. Beirne said he will campaign on the need to tax food stores that sell cheap drink – so that we can finance the resultant cost to the health system.
