A Build a Brick fund raiser has been launched at Scoil Dara, Kilcock to raise €100,000 to construct sports facilities at the school.

The aim is to raise enough money to build sports changing rooms.

Parents, friends and the community at large are being asked to come up with €100 per brick if possible.

Caroline Malone from the Board of Management explains: “People can pay in installments over a period of time. They don’t have to come up with all the money at once. There is no problem.”

She told how the school currently has no shower facilities or changing rooms for visiting teams.

There is a significant amount of grant money available for the project but it will have to be built soon or the grant will expire.

So far, the school has raised almost €8,000 from a fashion show fundraiser.

Sports that will benefit from the construction of the new facility will be Gaelic football, camogie, athletics, rugby, soccer, basketball and tennis.

Caroline points out that community groups would also be able to avail of the new building.
