April 4 was another momentous day for Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa as the official opening and blessing of the school’s new school extension took place.

Two new classrooms, a learning support room and an office were added to the existing structure, adding much needed space to the school, which has witnessed a significant growth in pupil numbers over the last number of years.

Bishop Eamonn Walsh led the ceremony, assisted by altar servers Danielle Struycken and Dubhaltach McSweeney. The Chairperson of the Board of Management, John Clarke, spoke about the journey towards the new extension, with Fr. Prendiville especially thanked for all his work and commitment to the project. Principal, Mr. Ó Briain thanked all those who assisted with the extension, the Board of Management and the Parents Association.

Local TD Billy Timmins shared kind words about the school and he was joined by other local councillors. The ribbon was officially cut by Bishop Walsh, assisted by pupils Laura Clarke and Killian Doyle. The children of the school provided beautiful hymns throughout the blessing, which concluded with a tree planting ceremony. Guests were then invited to the school hall where a beautiful spread of refreshments and snacks were laid out with the help of the parents. The children all enjoyed their own goodie bag to mark the occasion.
