Bikeweek seeks to celebrate and to promote cycling in Kildare

Preparations are in train for the forthcoming Bikeweek which takes place next week, from June 14 to 22.

And the programme of events has been released in the last few days, and will feature cycles and an exhibition featuring the exploits on two weeks by local Naas man Alo Donegan.

In the Newbridge/Kildare area, the Conway Baxter Cycling Academy will run a Family Cycle from Lumville House on Saturday, June 14. The Paddy Flanagan Memorial Cup race will take place on Sunday, June 22.

In the Leixlip/Celbridge/Maynooth area, will see a cycycle in the ‘Footsteps of Arthur Guiness’, a family cycle from Castletown and Kilmacradock, and a fundraising spin from Kilcock to Maynooth.

In the Naas area there wil be a Photographic Exhibition called ‘Alo Donegan - The Cycle King’ from June 4 to 23; a Grand Canal Cycle on Sunday June 15 and a Lunch Time Cycle on Wednesday, June 18.

And nationally, there will be a bike to work or bike to school event taking place on Wednesday, June 18.
