Larry Keane murder investigation: arrest made

Gardai investigating the murder of Larry Keane have arrested a 47 year old man in the Athy area.

Gardai investigating the murder of Larry Keane have arrested a 47 year old man in the Athy area.

The arrest was made this morning, Thursday, August 25 at 7am.

The man is currently being detained at Kildare Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Mr. Keane (56) was discoved shortly before mid-night at a walkway between St John’s lane and Greenhills housing estate in Athy with a wound to his head.

Despite receiving first aid on the scene and being brought to hospital Naas Hospital he died of his injuries in the early hours of the following morning.

Mr. Keane was a former soldier and had Republican sympathies.
