Derrinturn Community Development Group has decided to push Kildare County Council for a pedestrian crossing at Derrinturn School.

Group members are very concerned with the current situation that exists at the school when children are being dropped off and collected each day.

Each morning the roadway gets completely congested and motorists have to carefully negotiate a safe passage through they say.

Concerned parents have told the Development Group that they fear an accident may happen due to the high volume of traffic.

The group hopes a traffic management plan can be implemented and that parking can be provided for the school staff.

On a positive note, the newly formed Development Group are delighted to see that the Council were now installing a new footpath from Cluain Dara Estate to Gorman’s Cross.

The Group say they will continue to work closely with Kildare County Council for the good of Derrinturn and that of all the residents.
