The Curragh Racecourse was raided in the early hours of last Wednesday (August 17) by five youths in hoodies who were spotted on CCTV, writes Paula Campbell.

The Curragh Racecourse was raided in the early hours of last Wednesday (August 17) by five youths in hoodies who were spotted on CCTV, writes Paula Campbell.

According to Sergeant Seamus Rothwell of Newbridge Garda Station, a number of buildings were entered between 3 am and 5 am and significant criminal damage was caused.

“A number of buildings were entered,” he said. “Criminal damage was caused and five hooded youths were spotted on the premises.”

A golf buggy belonging to the Racecourse was stolen which turned up at the nearby Curragh Golf Course.

“It was damaged and left at the Golf Club,” he added. “If anybody saw any activity between the hours of 3am and 5am please contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 431212. Somebody might have seen something,” he said.
