Early tallys from the count centre at Punchestown reveal an estimated 58% vote in favour of the referendum in the South Kildare constituency.

As of 11.20am this morning early indications are that the farming community of the south of the county played a big role in swinging the vote, while more traditional working class areas were more opposed to it.

News is slower coming from North Kildare tallys, although traditionally, the north of the county tends to be more in favour of referendums than the south.
