The first one was July 20 and the next one with be August 24 and September 21 - the Donadea Duathlon series is up and running.
The events consist of a duathlon and a 5kms run on the same day.
One of the organisers, Tony Reilly, explained that the first one attracted 92 to the duathlon and 60 to the 5kms.
“We’re trying to push the 5kms runs,” he said, adding that the entry fee for that goes to charity.
“In August 24 it’s going to the Princess Leah Fund and in September, it’s going to Pieta House.
The duathlon has, thus far, attracted good competition, with some of Ireland’s top triathletes.
“And there was a strong representation from Naas Tri-club,” Tony explained.
The organisers of this series is a newly re-established cycling club, Donadea Wheelers.
With some members of the original club still on board, the club has been building since June of this year. With almost 40 members, young and old, it’s taking off nicely.
