Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin today expressed his condolences on the death of former Kildare Minister Paddy Power.
“It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of former Fianna Fáil TD Paddy Power. He served the people of Kildare with distinction in the Dáil for 20 years and also served as a member of the European Parliament in the late seventies before his son Sean took up that mantle and continued that tradition of public service.
“Paddy was a very astute politician and was appointed a Minister on three separate occasions. He had a long and successful career in politics and represented the people of Kildare very well over that time.
“On behalf of myself and the Fianna Fáil party I would like to extend my sympathies to Paddy’s wife Kitty and their ten children.
The former Deputy, who passed away on Monday night at the age of 83, will repose in his Caragh home.
There will be rosary there tonight, Thursday, at 9pm.
The removal will take place on Friday evening to the Church of Our Lady and St Joseph, Caragh at 7pm.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11am, with burial afterwards in Caragh cemetery.
