Firstly we all here at the Kildare Animal Foundation would like to wish all the readers a very happy new year and wish you and yours all the best for 2014.
We have started the year off with a very large amount of animals. November and December proved to be our two busiest months.
A large number of dogs and cats came into the shelter most of them sick, injured or abandoned. We struggled to find spaces. Most of our volunteers have one or two foster animals at home until we have space for them to come back. With each animal arriving needing veterinary attention the vet bills soon add up, with one week in early December costing just over €1,200. We have been blessed by the great supporters and you all get us through the hard times. Now the holiday period is over we can look forward to the year ahead and find five star homes for the animals. Just like Jasper, he arrived a week before Christmas with a large cut under his neck - likely to have been caused by a collar that was too tight. If you are thinking of giving a dog or cat a home then please visit our shelter. We are open daily from 2-4pm. A home visit will be required before we re home an animal to make sure that both you and the animal are suitable for each other.
