Fire service personnel were alerted to a kitchen fire at Lawlor’s Hotel in Naas last night shortly after 9 o’clock.
Nobody was seriously injured during the incident at the popular Poplar Square venue, which is a landmark in the town and which was closed only temporarily.
The fire, described by hotel management as a minor event was quickly extinguished by staff and the Fire Service was notified as a precaution.
Patrons returned to the hotel within 90 minutes and it’s expected that the kitchen will reopen at 6pm today.
Two staff members were treated for minor injuries caused by smoke inhalation.
