Dublin man banned from driving for 20 years

A Dublin man pleaded guilty to charges of drink driving, driving without a driving licence and driving with no insurance at Naas District Court last Wednesday, October 23.

Bernard Locke, whose address is listed as 29 Bell Harbour, Monasterevin, was stopped by Garda David Farragher at the Dublin Road roundabout, Maudlins on the the Dublin Road, Naas, in an Opel Corsa.

He failed to provide documents and a reading of 82 mililgrammes of alcohol per 100 mililitres of breath was recorded.

He was also charged with having no driving licence or insurance.

The defendant is currently on remand to face, in the New Year, a charge of murder.

Mr. Locke has 30 previous convictions.

Judge Desmond Zaidan sentenced him to a total of 10 months, fined him a total of €2,500 and banned him from driving for 20 years.
