Cash taken in Athy Post Office Raid

A pair of armed raiders made off with a sum of cash after a robbery on Athy Post Office this afternoon (Friday).

A pair of armed raiders made off with a sum of cash after a robbery on Athy Post Office this afternoon (Friday).

Shortly after 3.15pm, the pair entered the Post office on Main Street - one carrying a firearm.

One of the men jumped the counter and demanded money from staff.

The pair left with an amount of cash believed to be under €1,000.

There were customers present in the Post Office on Duke Street during the raid, but nobody was injured. The incident just a couple of minutes, according to Gardai.

The pair left on a large motorcycle.
