The 12th annual St Vincent’s Hospital charity auction will take place next Sunday April 14 in the GAA Clubhouse in Athy.

Starting at 2.15pm with viewing from 11am, it is set to bring the community of south Kildare together once again, with the simple aim of raising funds for the hospital’s recreational and therapeutic activities.

“We are in need of good quality items including unwanted gifts, hampers, bottles of spirits/wine, gift vouchers, bric a brac, furniture, paintings and so on,” explained matron Helen Dreelan.

“Each auction makes on average E12,000 per annum and this money is used to fund recreational and therapeutic activities that are provided for the patients throughout the year. It includes parties, outings, arts and crafts, pottery, knitting, painting a gardening club, mobile book and video/DVD library, weekly bingo and exercise programmes.”

The funds also go towards special events, such as the Christmas party and a summer garden party.

“All the resources required to run these events are only possible as a result of money raised at the auction,” .Mrs Dreelan stressed.

Items can be left in GAA Clubhouse for 6pm to 9pm Friday April 12, and from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 13.
