ELEVEN year old Cian Condon from Caragh will feature in a new TV quiz show for 10 and 11 year olds on TV3 on Sunday next (November 18).

Junior Mastermind is being presented by former Minister for Justice Nora Owen and, the young contestants answer questions sitting in the famous black chair; just like the grown-up series.

Cian loves to watch golf on television and he plays the game on Saturdays. He is inspired by international golf champion Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland, and has read McIlroy’s autobiography.

Twenty contestants, including the Caragh National school pupil, were chosen from hundreds of prospective participants who auditioned.

Cian went to the British Open last year and chose McIlroy as his specialist subject. He also plays tennis, Gaelic football and goes swimming. He loves quizzes and competed twice in the annual Prosperous quiz and in the Credit Union quiz. His dad Martin once competed on TV quiz show, RTÉ’s Where in the World.

Cian lives with his family at Old Chapel Wood and has two sisters Aoife (13) and Ciara (10).

The first episode took place last weekend and four children participated and the specialist subjects included the American Superbowl to the life and times of Mary Robinson.
