The State has amended charges against two women who appeared at Naas District Court charged in relation to a brothel in Sallins.
The women, 28-year-old Romeyka De Silva and 56-year-old Katia Camango Silva are both Brazilian and the address for both of them is listed in court documents as 4 O’Callaghan Court, Upper Erne Street, Dublin.
They initially appeared at Naas District Court, following their arrest, on Wednesday, October 17. At the time they faced charges of assisting in the management of a brothel and being the occupier of premises that is being “used as a brothel for habitual prostitution” on Thursday, October 4, at 19, Millbank Square, Sallins, Kildare.
The case against them was adjourned to last Wednesday, November 7.
At that sitting, the charges was amended to read, simply, “brothel keeping”.
The court heard that Gardai believe they rented the apartment to work in prostitution.
“They rented it for themselves,” a Garda witness told the court.
“Was there a pimp involved, a godfather?” Judge Zaidan asked.
“Not that I can identify,” the Garda admitted.
The case was adjourned back to November 21, 2012, for hearing.
