Kildare town’s Giustina Macari has collected her multi-million euro win from the National Lottery’s offices in Dublin.
The Kildare native scooped her €5,763,000 win on Saturday, March 31, last. She shared jackpot with a couple from County Meath.
Giustina picked up the cheque for her win yesterday, Tuesday April 10, in the company of her boyfriend Cristiano Paulielo and other advisors. She decided to keep the collection of the win private, but, via a statement, thanked Kildare locals for their good wishes and support.
“It’s only just over a week ago but it’s been a whirlwind of activity since then, and the intensity and pressure of it all has been hard to take in at times. I’m looking forward to the future now, and to getting back to doing the things I love,” said the horse-riding enthusiast, whose family runs Macaris chip shop in Kildare town.
“I would love if everyone had at least one chance in their life like the one I’ve been given. I have had a lot of attention in the last couple of weeks and while it’s all been very exciting, for me at this point, it’s time to take a break from that side of winning, and get back to normal, everyday life.
“I am so looking forward to getting back to horse riding - my big passion - which I haven’t been able to spend enough time on ever since my win. Once again, thank you to everyone who has wished me well.”
