NEWBRIDGE gardai are appealing to businesses in the area to ensure that premises are fully secured after a spate of burglaries in a number of businesses last week.
The Hokey Pokey restaurant in Charlotte St was robbed on Wednesday, June 20 at 5.30am after raiders made off with the till and some cash on entering the premises through an upstairs window.
The Educational Supplies in Limerick Lane was broken into between 6pm on June, 19 and 9am on June 20 via a forced hole in the roof and the till was stolen. Two days later Newbridge Hire in the Industrial Estate was raided between 6.30pm on June 22 and 8am on June 23 with cash, cheques and electrical equipment taken. CCTV footage shows one lone male was involved who appears to have gained entry through a forced window.
Lastly Nick’s Fish on Moorefield Road was robbed on Sunday, June 24 and once more the till and some cash was stolen. According to gardai entry was gained through a side door.
“We would like people to ensure that businesses are as secure as they possibly can be,” said Sgt Mary Keane of Newbridge Garda Station.
